FARM IN TUSCANY
Farmhouses in Tuscany, producing traditional products, and raising Chianina cattle
traditional and authentic cuisine, along with farm wines and a friendly atmosphere.
The Rappuoli family
The Rappuoli family, native to the area, has been passionately cultivating the fertile Sienese lands for over a century, passing down the secrets of the trade from generation to generation,
adapting to the most modern mechanical technologies.
They will be happy to let you experience the tasks that nature offers, aboard sophisticated agricultural machinery, such as
threshing in June and July, plowing in September, sowing in October, and even the grape harvest in September.
The farm occupies one of the oldest and most important monasteries the area can still boast: the Pieve di
San Piero in Campo, recorded since the 11th century. The consecrated church retains the most evident traces of its Romanesque origins.
In addition to growing cereals, durum wheat, sunflowers, and grains for livestock feed, which alternate
plowing, sowing, and harvesting according to the seasons, changing the color of the landscape from deep brown to green and
finally to a thousand shades of yellow and gold, the family also spends its time raising calves,
specifically the prized Chianina breed, from which the well-known “Fiorentina” steak is made. Here, you can enjoy
it, cooked in full view over the brazier at the “Cacciamici” and “Podere Conte Ugo” agritourism establishments,
directly managed by the family. It’s accompanied by an excellent and genuine wine from their own vineyard, a plate of pici or tagliatelle made as tradition has taught the skilled hands of the housewives, all served in a dining room that opens through the ancient arched door
to the marvelous view of the valley.
the two farmhouses
The two farmhouses, originally named “Cacciamici” and “Podere Conte Ugo,” are located in the center of the valley on one of the typical Sienese hills. They offer a 360° panorama that extends from the medieval village of Castiglioncello sul Trinoro toward the imposing Tower of Radicofani and the green volcanic Mount Amiata, before disappearing among clusters of isolated cypress trees and hundreds of hectares of rolling countryside. The open spaces around the two farmhouses allow you to relax in the shade of gazebos and umbrellas or soak in the pool, which overlooks the valley like a terrace.
The apartments, furnished with antiques and Tuscan Arte Povera, retain their original features, with coffered ceilings and beams, thick walls, and stone and brick arches. Beyond its history (from Rocca d’Orcia to Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino, and Siena), it takes you to the evocative Abbeys of Monte Uliveto and Sant’Antimo. Within just a few kilometers, you can relax in the beneficial hot sulfuric waters of Bagno Vignoni, Bagni San Filippo, and San Casciano dei Bagni, popular destinations since the days of the Romans. But the history doesn’t stop there. About a 20-minute drive away, towards Chiusi, you can visit the Etruscan Tombs and the countless archaeological finds housed in the city museum.
On our farm, in addition to Chianina beef, the most interesting and productive products we grow and sell are: durum wheat, barley, oats, fava beans, Alexandrian wheat, and Sgaroso wheat, from which we produce grain, straw, and hay.
We also perform agricultural work for third parties, including cultivation, sowing, fertilizing, weeding, harvesting, and baling.
We always strive for maximum efficiency and productivity for a good harvest.
